How To Adjust The Microphone Volume On A Chromebook
To adjust the microphone volume on your Chromebook, all you need to do is click on the icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen with the time on it.
Now you will need to make sure the menu is expanded, so if it looks like this:
You’re good to go, but if it looks like this:
You’ll just need to click on the up arrow to expand it.
Now, near the bottom of this menu, you’ll see a speaker icon with a volume slider next to it that allows you to adjust the speaker volume. But to adjust the microphone volume, you’ll instead need to click on the arrow next to the slider.
Now, in this menu, under where it says “Input”, you should see the microphone you’re using, and a volume slider below it where you can adjust the microphone volume.
The built in microphone on my Chromebook is called “Front microphone”, so for me it says “Front microphone”, but on your Chromebook it might say something like “Internal microphone” or “Built In microphone” or something like that.
Or, if you’re using an external microphone with your Chromebook like a USB microphone, the volume slider will be below that microphone and the name will be whatever your external microphone is called.

But regardless of what microphone you’re using or what it’s called, you’ll just need to click and drag this volume slider to the right to make your microphone louder…
Or to the left to make it quieter.
You’ll probably want to fiddle around with it a bit and do some testing to find the perfect volume level for your needs, but once you’ve got it the way you want it, you’ll be good to go!
And that’s all there is to it! So now you know how to adjust the microphone volume on your Chromebook.
