So as you can probably tell, cache and cookies are very helpful when browsing the web, but when you visit a lot of websites, all the cookies and cache will start to build up and Firefox will start to become slow. You might also run into an issue with a certain site that is caused by the cookies and cache. How to Clear Cache and Cookies on Firefox
First things first, you will need to open Firefox on your computer, click on the menu button in the top right-hand corner and click on “Options” (About halfway down the menu).
Then, click on “Privacy and Security” in the menu on the left-hand side of the page.
Now, scroll a little bit down the page until you see the heading that says “Cookies and Site Data“.
You will now have a choice, you can choose to clear all the data, which will clear all the cache and every cookie for every website you’ve ever visited. Or, you can choose to clear the cache and cookies for one specific website.
If you’re clearing your cookies and cache because Firefox has become slow, you’ll want to clear all of it, but if your clearing your cookies and cache because of an issue with a certain site, then clearing the cache and cookies of that one specific site is probably the better option.
How to Clear all Cache and Cookies in Firefox
Keep in mind that doing this will log you out of all the websites you’re currently logged into, it’s not a big deal because you can always sign in again.
If you don’t want this to happen, consider deleting the cache and cookies for just one specific site.
If you want to clear all the cache and cookies in Firefox, just follow the steps above and then click “Clear Data“.
Now, a box will pop up on the screen, make sure that both the “Cookies and Site Data” and the “Cached Web Content” boxes are ticked and then click “Clear“.
A warning may pop up warning you that doing this will sign you out of all the websites you’re currently signed into and remove offline web content, but as long as you’re okay with that, just click “Clear Now“.
That’s all it takes, it will now promptly delete all of your cache and cookies.
Clear Cookies and Cache for One Site Firefox
If you’re clearing your cache and cookies because you’re having a problem with a certain website and you don’t want to be logged out of all the websites you’re currently logged into, then clearing the cache and cookies for one specific site will be your best option.
To do this, follow the steps above to find the “Cookies and Site Data” heading in the “Privacy & Security” section of Firefox options and click on the “Manage Data” button.
You will now see a list of all the sites that have cache and cookies on your computer, the list is alphabetized so you can scroll down until you find the site you want to clear, or if you don’t want to scroll through what is potentially a very long list, you can use the search box above.
Once you’ve found the site you want to clear, just click on it and click the “Remove Selected” button near the bottom left of the screen.
After you’ve clicked “Remove Selected“, you’ll need to click the “Save Changes” button.
A warning may pop up warning you that doing this may sign you out of the website you selected and remove offline web content, but it will only be for the site you selected and not all the other sites, so if you’re okay with that, just click “Remove“.
Once that’s all done, your cookies and cache for the site you selected will now be cleared.
