Before you go ahead with doing this, it’s important to know that you will be logged out of any websites you’re currently signed into. Of course, this isn’t a huge deal as long as you know your passwords as you can just log back in. But it is a bit of an inconvenience.

The first thing you’ll need to do is, obviously, open the Chrome app on your phone or tablet.

And now you’ll need to be inside a tab. It doesn’t matter which tab, it can be any random tab you happen to have open. But to make things simpler I’m just going to create a new tab.

Now, you’ll see a list of all the websites you most recently visited, but above that will be an option that says “Clear browsing data…”, and you’ll need to tap on “Clear browsing data…”.

Now you’ll have a few options to choose what data you want to clear, the first option is the time range. If you want to be sure that it’s all cleared, it’s best to just leave this set as “All time”.

But if you only want to clear some very recent cookies and cache, you can tap on the dropdown arrow and choose Last hour, Last 24 hours, last 7 days, or last 4 weeks. And then you will still get to keep some of your cache and cookies.

Once you’re happy with the timeframe, you can also choose what type of browsing data you want to clear by ticking or unticking the boxes.

The first one is your browsing history which is basically a record of every page you’ve visited. You can tick this if you want, but it can be handy to keep your browsing history keeping it won’t cause any problems so I’d strongly recommend leaving it unticked.

The next one is your cookies and site data. If you clear this, you will be unfortunately signed out of all your accounts except for your Google account. But if you do need to clear your cookies, you’ll want to keep this one ticked.

The last one is the cached images and files. These are files that websites will save to your device in order for them to load quicker next time you visit them. It’s definitely worth clearing this from time to time to keep everything running smoothly, so I’d recommend keeping this one ticked.

Once you’re happy with all your selections, go ahead and click “Clear data”.

Then, it will ask if you also want to clear the data from some websites that seem important to you. This can be quite handy because if (for example) you don’t want to clear the data for android.com, you can untick it here by tapping on the checkbox and then tap “Clear” and all your browsing data will be cleared except for the data from that site.

Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to untick any site you want, but if the sites you want to untick happen to appear in this list, you can go ahead and untick them.
