Cookies are helpful things that are saved into your web browser every time you visit a website, they store information that identifies you to help with things like keeping you logged in to your account on sites that you log into (eg: Facebook, Twitter, Youtube) and many other helpful things like that.

Cache is used by some websites to store things like images on your computer, that way if you visit that site again later, it will load much faster.

So as you can probably tell, cookies and cache are very helpful when browsing the web, but when you browse the web a lot, all the cookies and cache will start to build up and Google Chrome will become slower and slower.  You also may run into an issue with a certain site that is caused by the cookies and cache.  If either scenario happens to you, keep reading to find out how to clear cookies and cache in Chrome.

How to Clear Cache and Cookies on Chrome

First of all, you will need to open Chrome on your computer and click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner, in the drop-down menu, find the “more tools” option near the bottom of the menu and hover the mouse over that.  Then another menu will appear, in that menu, locate the “clear browsing data” option and click on that.

Now, on the page that appears, make sure the “Time range” option is set to “All time“, this will make sure you are clearing all your cache and cookies.

Also, make sure the “Browsing history” option is not ticked, if you tick this box, it will delete the history of all the sites you have visited. You can check it if you want to but it’s unnecessary and can be inconvenient.

Then, just make sure the “Cookies and other site data” and the “Cached images and files” options are both checked and then click the “Clear data” button.

Now you’re done, depending on how many cookies and how much cached data you have, it may take a little while to clear but once it does that’s all you need to do.  Keep in mind that doing this will log you out of all the sites you are currently logged into, it’s not a big deal, you’ll just need to log in again.

If you only need to delete the cache and cookies for one site, this may be a better option for you.  It will delete everything from that specific site whilst leaving all the other sites untouched.

First, open Google Chrome on your computer and click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner.  Then click on the “Settings” option near the bottom of the menu.

Now, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click on “Advanced“.

Then find the “Site settings” option under the “Privacy and security” heading.

Then, under Permissions, click on “Cookies and site data“.

On the next page, click on “See all cookies and site data“.

You’ll now see a list of every site that has cookies and cache on your computer, the list is alphabetized so you can scroll down the page until you find the site you want, or if you prefer, you can use the search function in the top right-hand corner of the page.

Once you find the site you want, just click on the trash can icon next to it and the cookies and cache for that specific site will be immediately deleted.

So there you have it, two pretty easy ways of deleting the cache and cookies in Google Chrome.  The first method is probably the simplest to do, but in some cases, the second option is a much better way.
