Adding Emojis to anything can make it more fun and interesting! But, if you’re typing a Google Doc on your computer, it can be kind of hard to use emojis because physical computer keyboards don’t have emojis built into them like on-screen phone keyboards do.
But don’t worry, Google Docs actually makes it very easy to add emojis to your document even when you’re using a computer. And today, that’s exactly what I’m going to show you how to do.

How To Add Emojis In Google Docs
To insert an emoji into your Google Doc, the first thing you’ll need to do is put your cursor wherever you want the emoji to go, and then, click on “Insert” in the menu at the top of the screen.
Now, in the menu that appears, click on “Special Characters”.
And now, a box will appear on top of your document showing all kinds of different arrows. These arrows are cool, but they’re obviously not emojis. But don’t worry, all you need to do to get to the emojis is click on the drop-down menu that says “Symbol”…
And then, in the menu that appears, select “Emoji”.
Now, you’ll see all kinds of emojis!
The Emojis are split into different categories, and the first category is “People and Emotions” so all the Emojis you see now will be related to people and emotions.
But, if you want to use Emojis from a different category, all you have to do is click on the drop-down menu that currently says “People and Emotions”…
And then, you can choose any other category you like in the menu that appears.
So have a look around through the different categories until you find one the suits your document, and then, when you find the one you want to use, you just need to click on it to insert it.
Tip: If the box is covering the part of your document that you want to insert the emoji into, you can just click and drag the box to somewhere else on the screen so that you can see the emoji as soon as it’s added.
Once you click on the Emoji, it will be instantly inserted into your document wherever you left the cursor!
The box with all of the emojis will still be on the screen, so if you want to add an additional emoji while you’re here, you can just click the cursor wherever you want the next emoji to go, and then choose your next emoji.
And now, your next emoji will be added!
Or, if you only wanted to add one emoji, or you want to continue writing more of your document before you add your next emoji, you can just close this box by clicking on the cross in the top right hand corner.
And that’s all there is to it! That was pretty simple, right? Now you can easily insert emojis into your Google Doc whenever you want! Or, if you want to learn how to insert symbols into your Google Doc, take a look at this article.
